Ellie was bred to Silver a few weeks ago and I may be wrong but she already appears to have a little belly on her, not in the photo though that was taken when she was at the breeders house. We did 4 artificial inseminations and we have our fingers crossed! She does look bigger. This is going to be an amazing breeding and the puppies will have bone and head! 4 puppies are spoken for and we might even keep one...unsure....haha!

I have an interesting story for you. A friend of mine was looking for a stud for her female. She used to breed bull terriers years ago and someone told her about me. I dont have a stud for her so I told her I would help her find the right dog. I found her a few different studs in Washington. One person she found on her own she liked the looks of the stud alot. The stud fee was 600. The people with the stud told her to drop off her female and pick her up about a week later. She asked me about it and I said thats fine but to make sure they supervise the dogs 24/7 and get a photo evidence that the two dogs have successfully bred. When she asked the breeder about this the breeder replied this way "I dont know if the last dog got pregnant or not, I don't watch them I prefer to give them some privacy." My friend replied that she would like to be present for any times that the dogs were to be bred. The breeder replied back "I dont have time for that, so she can stay and they can be together for about a week." My friend said she wanted to make sure they bred around 3 times (my advice to her) and the breeder told her "you don't need 3 times, you just need one time." My friend told the breeders she would just have to find someone else. It is COMPLETELY irresponsible to breed dogs without supervision. Why would someone hand over 600 cash to a breeding they have no clue was even conducted? Some females have a hard time with the breeding "tie." They can hurt themselves or the male by thrashing around and panicking. Someone needs to be there to calm the female down and to hold her still to keep her from jumping around. This really irritated me to hear this. If the owners want to be there for there female they have every right. Dog's dont care about privacy, if thats the case, watch from a window outside, but never just leave two bull terriers to mate without being supervised. One time might be fine, but to have much higher chances at least 3 times is recommended, Specially if the female hasnt been checked for ovulation and you don't know when shes going to ovulate. Knowing what days they bred better helps predict around the time labor is expected. Im so happy she followed my advice and found someone else with a male that told her that she can be present for the breeding and that she can bring her female by as often as she feels necessary. I would never breed 2 dogs together, not even my own without watching the dogs together at all times.

This video is a clear example of what can happen when someone doesnt help the female while breeding. They just let the female roll around and panic and the female can tear her vagina and hurt the male, which can cause a poor experience in breeding causing either the male or the female to be hesitant to want to breed again.

Strictly appearance, what is most important to you when you judge one based on preference? Ill go first in naming things I think are important. Dont be afraid to admit some faults of your own dogs! Nobody here has the "perfect" bullie they can all improve somewhere.

Feet: I really love nice cat feet, sometimes I see dogs with horrible feet and long quicks, scarlett my female has poor feet, I cant get her nails short enough for my liking.
Ears: I cant stand floppy ears! I like them small, and correctly placed.
Teeth: I HATE underbites, and sadly, Electra has one, luckily it hasn't passed on but her wonderful head sure did and her goofy fun loving personality.
Tail: I noticed shorter stubby tails look nicer, Claxxton's breeder pointed it out to me on his dogs and I never noticed before, he has some of the best quality dogs i've ever seen, even a rufus granddaughter!
Chest: I like nice deep chests, below the elbows.
Bone: I never understood the idea of bone or substance until I started seeing them first hand, now I am in love with the look and its even more rare now days to see dogs with great bone.
Eyes: I love love love small dark eyes, like really small, I think it makes a huge difference in the expression of the dog (coming from a show perspective) big eyes in bullies never looks right.

Oh how we hope to have one soon for two major reasons, peace of mind and security. Recently someone tried breaking into my house through the front and then the back door. He woke me up in the middle of the night about 2am and I waited on him with a shotgun. Unfortunately my husband was working in Clarendon county (he's a county deputy and I am a non-retired police officer). It just would help to have that extra security in the house when my husband is away. Thankfully I didnt have to kill anyone that nite. I just want to be able to sleep when my husband is gone and to have a strong companion such as a bull terrier to be at my side when a situation as this arrives. I wanted a BT since forever and this situation solidified my request with my husband. We do not live in a terrible neighborhood, but in the last 2 yrs there has been more break-ins and minor criminal activity as time goes by and opportunities present themselves more is committed. So I think criminals will stay clear of this house if they hear a dog barking from the inside. I know all of you would agree this is definitely the right breed for that extra protection.

This is the coloreds and my thoughts on them. I really like the brindle male, it was a deserving win on his part, perfect to the standard IMO. Between the females I really liked the black and white female and think she should have won over the red female, because her head was so nice, but her gait seemed off, the red and white bitch was a bit heavy for my taste as she seemed round in the belly. Loved it!

http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/videos/#/Breed Judging/2012/Terrier/vid:17894389

Thoughts?

Whits

Maybe Im just a little bias to males i just love the look of a big sturdy male, nice win to the third bitch I did think she was just a hair better than the second, but I would have picked the male he was lovely.

http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/videos/#/Breed Judging/2012/Terrier/vid:17895646

Minis!

I loved the black brindle so much! i was cheering for him! the white male was a good pick as well!! The hair should always be glossy
and should be close lying. This breed should have tight skin, never wrinkly or
saggy. Grooming this breed is fairly simple as the coat is very short. However,
the Bull Terrier should be protected from the cold.

Overview: The Bull Terrier is a cross between the Bulldog and the Old
English Terrier with a bit of Spanish Pointer in his bloodline. This breed
originated in 1830 to attack bull in this sport of combat. They were soon
replaced in 1850 with the White Cavalier and have since been used for many
different things. The Bull Terrier has been used as a guard dog, a ratter, a
herder, and a watchdog and does extremely well in all.

Character: The Bull Terrier is a lively breed but can also be lazy
and quiet at times. A very muscular and well-built breed, this dog has a very
sweet disposition and can be very affectionate. This dog requires an experienced
handler as they can become dominant without the right training and
socialization. The Bull Terrier is a very polite breed that is naturally
obedient, however does need extensive training and requires a great deal of
companionship.

Temperament: Fiery, energetic, and loving, this breed can also be
protective of his owner and his territory, giving off somewhat of a fearless
presence. This breed makes a good watch and/or guard dog. The Bull Terrier is
very hardy and sturdy and can tolerate quite a bit of child's play, however
should always be supervised, as Bull Terriers can be snippy if they are overly
pestered. With proper socialization and training, this breed can do well with
other dogs.

Care: The Bull Terrier does not require much grooming, and an
occasional brushing with a rubber brush should be sufficient. Hand plucking may
be necessary for dead hairs, but is usually cared for with a brush or comb. This
breed is an average shedder, shedding only around twice a year. Removing loose
hair should be simple when using a special rubber glove designed for such a
task. Ear cleaning is necessary to prevent any difficulties in the future.

Training: Being somewhat willful and very independent, the Bull
Terrier can be difficult to train. Obedience training should be started at an
early age to avoid any issues in the future. Being that this breed is prone to
dominance issues, firm and dominant handling is a must to prevent escalation
into aggression. Bull Terriers are very eager to please although they can be
very stubborn and difficult to train in any aspect.

Activity: The Bull Terrier is a very lively breed. A ball of fire,
this dog requires quite a bit of exercise to stay healthy and active. At least a
medium sized yard would work best as this breed has almost infinite energy. This
breed requires long daily walks, twice a day is best, as they can become
destructive if not given the proper stimulation and exercise requirements.
